Video Guidelines • Respect the WordPress trademark and GPL license. • Only promote WordPress-derivative works (themes, plugins, etc.). • No spam, advertising, or discrimination of any kind. • Videos should demonstrate how to use WordPress and do awesome things with it. Guidelines for Screencasts and Tutorials • Keep videos short (average video should be under 3 minutes). But incase of full talk or WordCamp session it is okay to have more time length. • Focus on one topic per video. • Avoid adding self-promotion or introducing yourself. • No advertising or logos (except the producer credit line).
Quality • Use a quality microphone and ensure clear, crisp audio. • Record in a quiet space to avoid background noise. • Avoid filler words (Aahh’s, Mmm’s) and plosives (popping sounds). • Consider using a script for consistency. Visual Requirements • Record in 16:9 aspect ratio (720p = 1280×720 or 1080p = 1920×1080). • Capture only the necessary tutorial area and mouse movements. • Avoid showing your desktop or any unnecessary icons/programs. • Presentation slides: Upload them to a trusted platform and follow Creative Commons license. Compression: • Ensure the video file size is under 1GB. • Use Handbrake to compress videos without losing quality. Major things: • Always include intro and outro slides to frame your video properly. • Trim unnecessary parts and resolve any technical issues before submission.
