This is the project that was created at the Junction Asia 2023 hackathon.

We are the SlowVillage team that has created a housing-sharing platform for elderly individuals living alone. Before starting the project, we analyzed public data and identified two major issues in Busan.
The first issue is the significant aging population and the increasing problem of loneliness. Over the past 10 years, Busan's overall population has been consistently decreasing, while the elderly population is on the rise. Particularly concerning is Busan's high rate of elderly living alone, which ranks among the highest in comparison to other regions.
The second issue is the departure of young people who are driving society forward, leaving Busan. According to resident registration population statistics, the working-age population has sharply declined since 2013, with a decrease of over 250,000 individuals.
To address these issues comprehensively, we propose the concept of "accommodation-sharing platform and workation (work + vacation) for the elderly" through this Junction.
Workation refers to the culture where professionals leave their workplaces and work remotely in natural environments like the sea or mountains. Our platform allows elderly individuals to share their remaining homes and provides a solution for young people seeking workation, offering affordable housing and meals.
Through our platform, we can create the following values:
- Young people can enjoy workation in Busan at a lower cost.
- Elderly individuals can alleviate loneliness and economic difficulties by living with others.
- The city of Busan can attract a productive workforce.
- Young people's consumption within the local community can activate the area.
Our approach involves more than just selling spaces; we focus on person-centered content, including interviews with grandparents, to foster relationships and share memories. Through our app, we aim to alleviate the loneliness and economic challenges faced by elderly individuals living alone, creating a win-win ecosystem for the government, users, and hosts.
