It is uncommon to come across hatless snorunts in the icey regions of Sinnoh, but a recent trend of poaching snorunt hats has made an increase in this phenomenon. Snorunts are seen as a symbol of wealth and riches. Legend has it that a visit from a snorunt could bring prosperity to you and your family. However, there are those that wish to boast their wealthy stature by aquiring a snorunt's golden hat to wear as a status symbol.

It is illegal to poach snorunt hats, as these creatures need their hats to survive the harsh climates of their habitat. Countless petitions from rescue orgs have been sent urging to enforce repercussions on snorunt poaching and increase protections of these snorunts.

Nonetheless, instances of poaching have yet to decline.
