Responsible AI is about building and using AI systems in ways that are ethical, trustworthy, and aligned with human values. As AI increasingly influences real-world decisions, organisations must actively manage risks such as bias, lack of transparency, privacy breaches, and over-automation. Doing this well requires clear principles—fairness, transparency, accountability, privacy, and safety—and embedding them across the entire AI lifecycle, from deciding whether to use AI at all through to deployment and ongoing monitoring. Ultimately, Responsible AI is not a one-time check, but a continuous organisational commitment to reducing harm and maintaining trust.
