Mitra Manual

Mitra is an educational, scenario-based board game for adolescent girls to solve menstrual health problems and tackle the stigma surrounding menstruation prevalent in many communities. Each player takes on a specific role – such as a friend, teacher, or doctor – to help the main, fictional character. Ritu, solve problems presented on scenario cards. Each player uses a set of role-specific resource cards to make decisions that advance gameplay. A major goal of gameplay is the planning of a celebratory educational event, set to start in 32 days. Challenges include finishing the game in 32 turns and keeping a stigma meter under control. As a multiplayer game for 2-6 players, Mitra can be used in community, school, or home settings. A facilitator's guide would accompany the game. Mitra aims to foster open communication, destigmatize and break down misconceptions, and instill information-finding and problem-solving skills.
