April 2017 - IV Edition
First advice is:
#1• Begin with enthusiasm
Start with your best story, your funniest joke, your guiding
theory. Don’t make them wait to see you shine.
#2 • Ask questions
Begin with questions like: Who knows it..? Who uses it..?
Who tried it..?
#3 • Bullet lists are for check-lists, not for presentations
Lists of text should be avoided for presentation designs. Stretch
a list into multiple visual slides instead
#4 • One concept per slide
People can memorize information better when it is spread over
many slides. Don’t put too much on your plate
#5 • Have an outline
We are going to talk about: 1- .............. 2- ..............
3- ..............
#6 • Recap the outline
We have just seen: 1- .............. 2- .............. 3- ..............
#7 • Use the rule of three
Most people can remember an average of three ideas from
a presentation. Build your speech according to the rule of three
#8 • Reduce words on your slides
The audience will be more willing to listen what you
have to say instead of reading it on the slide. It also helps you not to read the presentation
#9 • Tell a story
People love stories...Tell them your personal experience and what you’ve
learnt from it. You will increase the audience involvement
#10 • Don’t read the slides
Or most of the people will think “I’m good at
reading too”. You’ll loose their attention
#11 • Don’t be monotone
Vary your voice when you can. You'll get people much
more interested in what you have to say. One of the things the best speakers can do well is variance of voice
#12 • Don’t turn your back to the audience
Turning your back to the audience for too long could
be perceived as lack of respect. Remember, a great presentation is a conversation!
#13 • Use contrasting colors
Use colors with enough contrast to bring out your text.
Your slides have to be clear and readable
#14 • Typography
Pick a clean and readable font, make it big enough.
(if you are not sure make it bigger) Design for the bottom of the room
#15 • Let the images speak for you
Images are easy to remember. You can associate them to
a concept or an idea to explain it better. Don’t use blurred images

#16 • Be simple
Find the best words to explain yourself. Be as simple
as possible
#17 • Convey emotions
If you look passionate your audience will be passionate too.
Show your enthusiasm!
#18 • Stay in the timing
The moderator in the room will warn you when the
time at your disposal is about to run out. Staying in the timing shows your respect towards your audience and your collegues.
#19 • Practice, rehearse and practice again
Some speakers worry that practice will decrease their authenticity on
stage, however the opposite is true. Whatever you do, don’t try to wing it
#20 • Have fun!!
