Mission: ➢position African-based experts to take leading role in the study of strategic development issues facing Africa. ➢build critical mass of modeling experts ➢ enable high-quality, locally- based research ➢facilitate access to existing datasets and improve quality of datasets ➢support collaboration among African researchers and their peers outside Africa

History: ➢established in 2010, where external actors dominated policy debate in Africa ➢CAADP process demands for technical capacity to measure and track implementation and outcome targets ➢governments align with CAADP growing demand for data, analyis and knoweldge products ➢AGRODEP expanded to over 300 members over 33 countries, more than 30% female researchers ➢Membership criteria: ✓ citizen of African country ✓based in Africa ✓PhD within 15 years ✓expertise/ interest in relevant methods/topics ➢increasing affiliated members

6. Contributions: ➢ Analytical support for national agriculture investment plan formulation • NAIPS and RAIPs ➢Assessment of New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition ➢ Hosting International Conferences • GTAP
7. Governance structure Consortium Board The Consortium Board plays a vital role in safeguarding the effectiveness and impact of AGRODEP and providing strategic direction for AGRODEP activities in terms of management, policy, operations, and resource mobilization. The Consortium Board brings together representatives from regional and international organizations, academic institutions and universities, international aid agencies, and other leading policy and development organizations. Currently, the board has 7 members. Technical Advisory Committee The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) provides guidance on technical and methodological issues. A key objective of the Committee is to ensure that AGRODEP is at the forefront of technical innovation and is meeting the technical needs of its members. The Committee is composed of leading experts from the economic research and policy community who are invited in their personal capacity. The TAC will be led by Chief Scientist of Akademiya2063.
