Self introduction Eriko Sugiyama (eririn) Rubyist Love Travelling
What I have done to connect Rails Girls and RubyKaigi
from a community perspective
Part of the organizing team for RubyKaigi 2023 One of
the helpers for RubyKaigi 2022 and 2024 Additional background Rails Girls Tokyo 15th Organizer
About Rails Girls Rails Girls is a workshop for women
who want to try programming https://railsgirls.com/ It was born in Helsinki, Finland in 2010
About RubyKaigi RubyKaigi is a conference to talk about Ruby
https://rubykaigi.org/2024/ It is held somewhere in Japan
Rails Girls / RubyKaigi Contents are totally different We can
meet with many Rubyists There are opportunities to get to know other attendees
between girls between girls and coaches between coaches In Rails
Girls, there are three types of encounters Feature of Rails Girls
Rails Girls Coaches are active engineers Coaches have a deep
understanding about the Ruby community Rails Girls can be the first step / gateway to the Ruby community
RubyKaigi for girls It’s a place to meet Rubyists and
gain energy We can see people who create Ruby We can reunite with friends made at Rails Girls
Connection to RubyKaigi I talked about RubyKaigi in the organizer
LT Matsuda-san made a speech about RubyKaigi Emori-san introduced a support system to attend RubyKaigi
As a result One of attendees joined using Rails Girls
Japan’s support program Another attendee said that it was fun to see rubyfriends again
I could bring people from Rails Girls to RubyKaigi Next
workshop was held after my organization Accomplishment
History in Japan The first workshop was held in 2012
in Tokyo Since then, it’s been held almost 70 times across Japan
Me and Rails Girls I first attended Rails Girls Tokyo
13th, in 2020, as a coach I was unsure of my ability to teach programming My interest in organizing a workshop was born It was so fun and I learned a lot
Now, you should be interested in holding a Rails Girls
workshop...
