A key strength of the community is that these tools are not static: they are constantly evolving and improving through the volunteer effort of thousands of community members around the world. I'll provide a high-level view of the current state of the scientific Python software ecosystem, discuss its strengths and weaknesses relative to other available tools, and highlight some specific areas where I see room for growth and improvement.
