USING APPORTO TO COMPLETE SPSS LABS PSYC 312 BEDICS
VIRTUAL LAB THROUGH BB • Apporto is a “remote desktop”
that allows you to run programs from a computer in the cloud • It can be slow…need patience. • It’s like going to a computer lab on campus and working on a separate computer…but on your own computer.
1. Make sure the Excel file is on your personal
computer (preferably on your desktop)
Step 1: Click Here Go to Blackboard
Step 2: Click Here
A whole separate computer pops up! Here is SPSS
Step 1: Get files in (Excel or code) from you
computer into Apporto in order to do the assignments.
1. Click Upload button to bring Excel files into Apporto
from your computer
This assumes you already put the excel data on your
desktop! Click “Open”
Voila 1. Now click on SPSS
When you first open SPSS it looks like this 1.
Click here so this page doesn’t come up again 2. Click Close
1. Click file to open 2. Select Excel 2. Click
here. Your # is different 3. Click Open
1. Select Desktop 2. Change to Excel 3. Click Open
Now Follow SPSS Instructions for each lab!
EXPORT FILES FROM APPORTO TO YOUR COMPUTER • AFTER COMPLETING
YOUR SPSS HW, SAVE THE SYNTAX AND OUTPUT ON YOUR VIRTUAL DESKTOP. • YOU NOW NEED TO EXPORT THESE FILES TO YOUR ACTUAL COMPUTER.
• Your syntax and output should be on the virtual
desktop • We need to get them out of Apporto and onto your personal computer. • You can then submit to BB
• You can only do one at a time. •
First, the .doc file for the output. • This will go to your downloads folder or desktop on your personal computer • Click the down arrow cloud
• Next, download your syntax • You are then ready
to upload those two to Blackboard!
