樂極生悲 "Extreme joy brings sorrow" (Mandarin proverb).
This phrase is often used to describe situations where things unexpectedly take a turn for the worse just as one reaches the height of happiness or success. My mom taught me this proverb whenever I accidentally hurt someone or broke something while playing as a kid—happened more than a few times, lol.
