Flickering Hope January Challenge: New Year, New Me
None
VO: There was this one dream I had recently...
None
None
VO: In it, I had a small bright candle.
None

None
None
None
VO: And I was in...
None
VO: The void, or something?
None
None
VO: A long...
VO: dark...
VO: ...empty void.
VO: Yet I knew where I need to go.
None
VO: Or at least what direction my destination was.
None
VO: While I was making my path
VO: suddenly a huge wind-storm appeared.
VO: ‘I can’t loose this light’ I thought to myself.
None
None
VO: But like a self-fulfilling prophecy
None
None
VO: I failed.
None
VO: I don’t know how long I was in the
dark.
VO: It was too hopeless to keep going.
None
None
VO: And then she found me.
None
VO: She was only 13, exactly how I remembered her.
VO: Long fluffy hair in a over-sized hoodie,
VO: so very very small,
VO: and with dreams so big and bright, it’s blinding.
VO: She asked with all the innocence in the world,
“Is everything alright?
You look pretty beaten down.”
None
VO: She wasn’t wrong.
“I don’t know where I am going.”
“I’ve been stuck in this void for God knows how
long.
and I lost my light, the only thing guiding me,
like an idiot.”
VO: She didn’t respond.
None
None
None
VO: She just... extended her torch.
None
VO: I...
None
VO: I couldn’t accept her offer.
VO: I couldn’t accept her offer.

“What if I fail and I get lost again?”
OC: “You have a brighter future as you are now
than what I currently am.”
OC: “You have a brighter future as you are now
than what I currently am.”
OC: “And y-you don’t really understand
OC: just how difficult our current path is, especially if
we fail.”
OC: “Our parents would want something better and more successful
that this...”
OC: “Our parents would want something better and more successful
that this...”
OC: “Do you still want us to continue, despite it
all?”
“Well duh! Of course I still want to?!”
“We knew how tough it was gonna be when we
first made that choice,
and the struggles we will have to face to finally
get there.”
and the struggles we will have to face to finally
get there.”
“But I think you forgot something that I remember;
We are a lot tougher than we give ourselves credit
for!”
We are a lot tougher than we give ourselves credit
for!”
“You’re actively making my dreams come true!”
OC: “We went to art school with no formal training
and graduated!”
OC: “We made so many friends who root for us
and inspire us everyday!”
OC: “Heck, we even made a whole animated film all
by ourselves from scratch!”
None
“Y’know...
*sniff*
“Y’know, it’s okay if we keep struggling, but that means
we’re getting close!
“So... Let’s keep going, okay?”
None
VO: She made some compelling points.
None
None
None
VO: She’s not wrong in that there’s still going to
be a lot of struggling and failures.
VO: But... *Torch swings across the camera as through transitioning*
VO: It’s gonna be okay.
VO: We’re gonna be okay.
