1. Northeastern Middle School FOR Club Presents Rachel’s Closet
2.  Rachel’s Closet contains necessity items such as clothing, shoes, school supplies, personal hygiene items and gym uniforms.  Fun items including accessories such as jewelry, purses, belts, hats, make-up, perfume, sun glasses, school spirit wear, athletic wear and gear.  Formal clothing and shoes for 8th Grade Recognition Night are available in the Spring prior to the event. 5.  Each Club Day (once every six cycle days) FOR members in the Rachel’s Closet committee meet to sort donations, do laundry, decorate and set up the Closet with current donations.  The FOR members who work in the Closet decide if the donations will appeal to the middle school students. Any items that we can not use are given to the school district’s annual clothing drive. How it Works
6.  Items are donated by students, staff, school district families, and community members and are free to middle school students in need.  A drop off area for donations is located in our school lobby.  Middle school students and parents are invited to tour Rachel’s Closet. This helps us identify who may be in need and donors can see what items are typically donated. How it Works
7.  Rachel’s Closet is located in a former In School Suspension Room. Store fixtures, school book shelves, mirrors and other donated or repurposed furniture found around the school are used to display items and TRANSFORM the space into a “retail” environment  The students painted and decorated Rachel’s Closet during Club time.  Work areas were created for the students to sort and hang donations.  A private dressing room was created. 10.  Marketing such as posters and commercials for Rachel’s Closet are run on the student news program to advertise the latest donations and end of the season clearance events.  Students who would like to shop can visit at a nonacademic time during the school day. The guidance staff assists students who would like to shop in the Closet. Students typically shop individually to allow confidentiality. How it Works
11.  Rachel’s Pantry will be a non- perishable food section within Rachel’s Closet containing healthy, minimal preparation items in boxes, plastic and ready to eat containers.  We discourage canned food to avoid students carrying heavy items that will dent.  The food will serve as an emergency food supply until we can get more intensive help for the student and their family.
