A three-year journey through AI-assisted programming — from $10/month Copilot to $297/month agentic workflows — and the four hidden costs that arrived along the way: dopamine loops, decision fatigue, context switching, and comprehension debt. Backed by research from METR, MIT, BCG, and Stanford, this talk traces how the exact engineer profile we celebrate on social media is the same profile that crashes. Three takeaways: feel is not a measurement, plan for all four recoveries, and protect the theory — it outlasts the code.
