In this talk, g0v.tw contributors JS, RS, and Chihao will share findings from their first-year research project on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) between civic tech projects and governments in East Asia. For the first time, they will present and discuss findings from eight case studies across Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. The session will explore various ways governments partner with the civic tech community, lessons learned from unsustainable PPPs, and the benefits of PPPs for democratic development. Finally, speakers will also present policy recommendations based on interviews conducted over the past year, reviewed by international experts, in the hope to illustrate how civic tech PPPs have and can contribute to the development of digital public services and strengthening of democratic resilience in their respective countries.
