  1. PRESENT SIMPLE PASSIVE • In English, we usually put (the

subject) at the beginning of the sentence. We use the passive if we don’t know who or what is doing an action or if it isn’t important who or what is doing it. • E.g. I eat chocolate. (active) • The chocolate is eaten. (passive)
  2. PRESENT SIMPLE PASSIVE We also use the present simple form

of the passive to talk about things which are generally true. E.g. French is spoken here.
  3. PRESENT SIMPLE PASSIVE RULE Object (will be the subject) +

is/am/are + verb past participle E.g. She washes the clothes. Active sentence she is the subject The clothes are washed. clothes is the subject Passive sentence
  4. WITH & BY We use by: to say who does

the action. E.g. The cake is made by Hana. E.g. The room is cleaned by the teacher. We use with: to talk about what is used to do the action. E.g. The room is cleaned with a broom. E.g. The picture is drawn with a pencil.
