Design Leadership in Challenging Times

As design practitioners and leaders, we face contradictory expectations every day from our bosses, project partners and teams. “Do the UX” before the devs start next week. Add a project to the current workload without additional hiring. Be ready to act as a firefighter while juggling meetings, projects, and teams… How can we meet everyone’s demands in this current economic environment, when budgets are cut, teams reduced and values are questioned? Is the UX hype over?

This phenomenon is not unique to us: non-designers have also been facing these challenges. In this talk, we’ll discuss what we can learn from company peers in navigating difficult environments.
