2. The Internet and digital networks are the means to connect disparate information and communication channels and are changing how society is organised and works. Harnessing new technologies is not simply a question of what technology can do, but how it interacts with other practices. ✓ New processes ✓ New ideas ✓ New insights ✓ Need to react productively to these new opportunities

Example of new developments - agripreneurs Digital transformation of economic activities entails the potential for four innovative trends (Brynjolfsson & McAfee, 2014): • Improved real-time measurement of business activities • Faster and cheaper business experimentation • Widespread and easier sharing of ideas • The ability to replicate innovations with greater speed Need: security to build up a business
4. Consequences for teaching and learning • Promising new knowledge and practices, which have been applied in the workplace to the benefit of efficiency and effectiveness, must be better recognised and communicated to allow peer learning within economic fields. • People not yet in the workplace and those currently working must be given new skills which enable them to harness the new benefits, but also to be flexible and adaptive to new situations. ✓ New processes ✓ New ideas ✓ New insights ✓ Need to react productively to these new opportunities
